PROJECT: FACE-LIFT

Project: Face-Lift is spearhead by the MC Riley HS Alumni Association; it is designed to accomplish the followings:

  • Revitalize and upgrade the Commemorative Garden and Wall, and the SC Historical Marker facility.
  • Compile, write and publish a MC Riley Schools’ history, ad supported Journal, documenting in print the schools’ ‘history and legacy’,.
  • Develop and maintain a website to highlight the former schools’ history and legacy.
  • Work with the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island to create a ‘digital footprint’ of all donated, reclaimed, restored, etc.., records and documents on the schools.
  • Continue to work with the elementary schools in the area – Hilton Head Island Elementary, MC Riley Elementary and Okatie Elementary – to provide financial support to assist with sponsoring field trips, purchasing school supplies for students, special learning endeavors, sponsoring tutors for underachieving students, etc. The current facility was erected by the Association, 21 years ago, at the former schools’ site.
