Class of 1970

We, the MC Riley Class of '1970 would like to express our gratitude as we memorialize our experiences and those who guided us through them. Honorable mention goes to our class advisors, the late Ms. Carrie C. Joiner and Mr. Alfonso Jenkins. They helped shape our characters.

Our principal was Mr. James B. Hildebrand. Our resolute teachers were, Ms. Carrie C. Joiner (Advisor and Math), Ms. Earnestine Jones (English), Ms. Earthel Grant (Science), Ms. Essie Robinson (Typing), Ms. Odessa Simmons (Music), Ms. Sadie Patrick, Mr. Mack Saxon (Agriculture)'and Mr. Alfonso R. Jenkins (Industrial Arts and Home Economics).

MC Riley was known as the basketball school, and we worked hard to keep that competitive spirit which was given to us by our predecessors. The Class of '1970 was the first class to start the sport of football at our school. Football was introduced by Coach Ted Whitaker in the fall of 1966. He also introduced us to Track and Field Events which he started in the spring of the following year. The Class of '1970 also published a yearbook. The 70 Hawk, this supplied evidence of our experiences as seniors at MC Riley.
